We’re sharing here trivia in the ongoing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona that was posted in Youtube from Rappler.com.
This is about the defense panel led by former justice Serafin Cuevas occupying a room that prosecution spokesman Deputy Speaker Erin Tañada would love to use.
As the impeachment trial goes into its second week today, both prosecution and defense panels will be using their respective rooms at the Philippine Senate. Cuevas and company will be using the Sen. Lorenzo Tañada room.
Erin is the grandson of Sen. Lorenzo ‘Ka Tanny’ Tañada and son of Sen. Wigberto ‘Ka Bobby’ Tañada.
Ka Tanny was a maverick fiscalizer at the Philippines Senate before the declaration of Martial Law in 1972 and later became known as the Grand old Man of the opposition to the Marcos dictatorship.
Ka Bobby, meanwhile, became instrumental in the ouster of the US Military Bases from the Philippines and paved the way for the development of Subic and Clark into growth centers today.
To know more about Erin and the Tañada legacy, here’s an excellent article from Newsbreak — “Third Generation Tanada Steps Forward.”
